The collection consists of correspondence and other documents generated by Harrison Smith, manager of American jazz composer and pianist Jelly Roll Morton, his lawyer, Howard Fischer, and various music publishers. Harrison Smith claimed copyright ownership of several Jelly Roll Morton songs; the documents deal with Smith's claims of copyright infringement and lawsuit he brought against RCA in U.S. District Court.
